The Tile and Carpet store has been in Durango for over 30 years, and was originally owned by Guy and Catherine Gervais. Denny and Kati Cavanaugh bought the store in 2014, and moved it to their present location on 103 Everett Street.
The new building had previously housed the Bureau of Land Management offices. It was a maze of cubicles and wires and definitely needed some TLC. In fact, the entire building had to be gutted, redesigned, and rebuilt. On a whim, Kati and Denny reached out to local interior designer Kjersten Tomer, who decided to join the Tile and Carpet Store team. Kjersten created a beautiful design plan for the new store.
Many local builders and installers contributed to the renovations, framing in new rooms, painting walls, and of course, setting tile and laying carpet. In the middle of it all, Mo from Mo’s Painting stopped in to drop off information about her faux finish business, and another piece of the puzzle fell into place. She created beautiful finishes in several areas of the store. The new store opened in June of 2014.
The Tile and Carpet team is dedicated to providing high quality products and excellent service. We serve clients in Durango, Farmington, Cortez, Telluride, and other surrounding communities on a daily basis. While most of our customers reside in the Four Corners area, many visitors to Durango stop into the store to shop for “mountain style home” products. Purchases from the Tile and Carpet Store of Durango can be shipped anywhere.
